What is it about Mermaids?

August 11, 2013

Movies have been made, stories abound, and sailors dream of the lovely mermaid…

What is wrong with people?

Fish smell.  They’re slimy.  They’re cold.  And did I mention… fish smell?

What, exactly, are you supposed to do with the dreamy fishlady when you finder her?  Dancing’s out.  Dinner would be kind of difficult.  You’d die if you want to her place and she’d die if she went to yours.  You gotta figure her skin would be all pruney.

On Facebook, a friend said she’d love to be a mermaid.  I’m thinking the ocean is a dangerous place.  It’s dark down there and critters who want to eat you would just pop up with tablewear ready.  I’ve never found the ocean to be a comfortable place to swim.  Then you have the commercial trolling operations with their giant nets, so swimming up top where you might be able to see danger becomes just as dangerous as the dark.

The whole half woman/half other animal thing is creepy…

Classic Swanstuff. Yeah, what’s up with that?

I’m thinking of that old Tom Hanks movie, Splash. Boy, that half woman/half other thing caused some big problems. You really need to only find love within your own species. Maybe your next post should be about what you would like to be. Even as I type this, though, I’m pretty sure you are fine as you are.

They are pretty and magical! In the sea fish don’t smell. They smell when they go bad. That means they are dead…. Anything is smelly when dead.
